We celebrated the birthday of the world on Rosh Hashanah, but did you know this year celebrates five years of reinvigorated justice work at Beth Shalom? The Social Justice Committee, co-chaired by Debbie Sosland Edelman and Alan Edelman, has participated with Shalom Homes, worked with JVS to resettle an Afghan refugee family, and deeply engaged with Good Faith Network, a Johnson County organization of approximately 30 communities of worship that address housing and homelessness, mental health, and elder care. Whether you've been in it from the beginning or are curious what getting involved in the future might look like, please join us for a bagel brunch in the Ohev Sholom Sukkah at Beth Shalom on Sunday, October 12 at 12:30pm. This will be an opportunity to celebrate the past five years and learn about current initiatives. New faces welcome and encouraged. Please RSVP by October 5.
